The granddaughter of Charles Chaplin is joining the protest campaign of Pallasos of Rebeldía against the migratory politics of the UE

Barcelona, 31st Mars 2016. The second movement “Risas contra muros” (Laughs against walls) of the international artistic-solidary collective “Pallasos en Rebeldía” (Clowns in Rebellion) have started the journey off to the “jungle” of Calais, in the frame of the protest campaign against the migratory politics taken three weeks ago in the refuges champ of Idomeni. “‘The Jungle’ is not in Calais, despite they survive in infra-human conditions; the Jungle is in the global system of terror that the Governments are managing. In the Jungle, animals and plants coexist in a state of balance, but this is the jungle of asphalt, skyscrapers and depredator markets which wildly are taking away hope and all expression of life”, says Iván Prado, spokesperson of Pallasos en Rebeldía.

Pallaso en Rebeldía will be present from the 1st to the 3rd of April in the refugee’s champs of Grande-Synthe (Dunkerque) and the “Jungle” of Calais, with a wide program of circus, magic and clown with the goal of entertaining the children and the adults who are living in both champs. The spectacles will be top level, starring artists such as the actress and dancer Oona Chaplin, the grand-daughter of Charles Chaplin and also very known for her role in “Game of Thrones”, and also the acrobats Rossina Casteli and Abraham Pavón, who are part of the company Kanbahiota and they will perform techniques of aerial and trapezes shows. The caravan of Pallasos en Rebeldía in Calais is also playing, with the 2 founders of Pallasos en Rebeldía (Iván Prado, clown and international spokesperson of the collective and Pablo Muñoz, magician and clown), and two other professional journalists, the audiovisual producer Laura Arau and the photographer Carlos Cazurro.

The international collective will perform learning workshops of these artistic disciplines, in collaboration with the Youth Center, and the Women and Child Center of the refugee’s champ of Calais. “The UE does not care about of thousands of migrants that stay crowded in their countries, but we do care about them. Today that Calais is not important anymore; the “Pallasos” have come here with committed journalists to report and denounce what it is happening. All of us are partners in crime of this human tsunami”, explains Iván Prado.
